Holbrook Junior High students were part of the college experience today as they attended the Northern Arizona University Indigenous Spirit Day! It was a great experience and HJHS students showed The Roadrunner Way by being Respectful, Responsible and Reliably Safe! Way to go HJHS! Thank you students, teachers, parents, law enforcement, elected officials and our community members for another great Walk to School/Love Our Schools rally! It was a great Roadrunner event with great student speeches, speeches by Chief Christensen and Sheriff Clouse and a great performance by our cheerleaders and Park and Hulet students! We appreciate all Roadrunners for keeping our schools and community drug free and thanks for loving our schools!
Love Our Schools is in full swing this week! Was great to have the interactive career fair at HHS today put on by Grow Arizona . HHS students got first hand experience with health related occupations, NAVIT programs, military information and APS bucket rides! Thank you to our businesses for "loving our schools today"!

The Walk With Me to Be Drug Free Walk to School event has been moved to Thursday, October 24th- same time, same place. The City of Holbrook is doing cement work on the 23rd at the Old Courthouse so we will move it back a day! Remember to wear Red!

We invite all Roadrunners to our annual Walk to School/Love Our Schools walk on Wednesday, October 23rd beginning at 7:45 am at the Old Courthouse in Holbrook! We will gather for a Drug Free/Love Our Schools rally and then walk to school together as Roadrunners! Students will be served breakfast at the Old Courthouse and buses will drop off students at the Old Courthouse unless parents request them to be dropped off at their respective schools! Please wear red for Red Ribbon Week! Thanks for your participation and thanks for being Roadrunners!
The week of October 21-25 we ask our parents, students, alumni, businesses and community members to help HUSD #3 celebrate Love Our Schools week.
Throughout the week we will be celebrating our schools, teachers, principals, support staff, and anyone involved in helping educate our students to let them know we Love Our Schools!
A sign of Loving Our Schools can be a note of appreciation, an email, helping with a project, attending a school event, making a sign for the school, attending the Walk to School Day, assisting with Drug Free Week activities or any other form of appreciation that shows we Love Our Schools at HUSD #3!
Schools at HUSD #3 are dedicated to Helping our Unique Students Develop. Celebrating that work is part of our mission for Community and Family Engagement (CAFE) at HUSD #3.

The October HUSD #3 Governing Board meeting will be held at the Holbrook District Office (1000 N. 8th Avenue) on Tuesday, October 8th. The original location was at Indian Wells Elementary School but due to construction the location will be changed. The November 12th HUSD #3 Governing Board meeting will be held at Indian Wells Elementary School. Thank you for being Roadrunners!

YOU ARE INVITED to the October Johnson O'Malley/Indian Education meeting on October 2nd at 5 pm at the HUSD District Office at 1000 N. 8th Avenue. The Indian Education Committee will be planning Native American Heritage Month activities! Those in attendance will have a chance to win a signed copy of "Warrior Girl Unearthed"! Hope you can join us for this important meeting!
HJHS hosted the Reservation All-Stars for an engaging, high energy and overall amazing assembly today. The Reservation All-Stars are Native Country's first-ever showtime entertainment basketball team showcasing an array of tricks, high-flying dunks, and jaw-dropping alley-oops while delivering powerful messages for students. Today, the All-Stars spoke about the importance of school-including attendance, the importance of never giving up and what it means to stand against bullying-including telling an adult. HJHS students were positive and ultimately participated in creating a stronger school community!

Come learn about tribal colleges and universities and meet our Indian Education Coordinator, Bernice Gover and our Indian Education Committee! The meeting is an open meeting for all Roadrunners! You will have a chance to win Native earrings as well!

HJHS enhances learning spaces to Help our Unique Students Develop!
The HJHS library has been transformed into a dynamic space designed for students to socialize, study, decompress, and just hang-out. Classes will be able to rotate through the learning space for student collaboration activities. Whether students need a quiet place to focus or a spot to connect with friends, this versatile area offers something for everyone.
Creating learning spaces for students is The Roadrunner Way!
A quick reminder that HUSD #3 will not be in session on Friday, September 12th. This is a scheduled day off for HUSD #3 students and teachers as part of our 180 days of school each year.

Team IWES Roadrunners raised $627, surpassing the goal of $500 for "The Climb to Conquer Cancer of Flagstaff"!
IWES sported a team of 10 educators, including 6 current staff members, former IWE teacher Ms. Jenny Smith, former Roadrunners Ashley and Sara Speers, and Hulet teacher, Ms. Saraphania Benally!
The Climb to Conquer Cancer of Flagstaff event is the American Cancer Society’s largest single day climb event in the world. People of all ages hike, run, walk, wheelchair and even push their babies in strollers up Snow Bowl. Whether it’s a cardio workout to the top of the mountain, a brisk walk or a leisurely stroll, ascending this Arizona peak generates fun, entertainment and most importantly, funds the fight to end cancer.
Together with our sponsors, we tackle this mountain, rally every community, and relentlessly continue in the fight against cancer through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer."

The Holbrook High School Bike Club competed in the first ever mountain bike competition for HHS this past weekend in Flagstaff! A great experience for all! Thanks Coach Yazzie and the HHS bike club members for representing HHS The Roadrunner Way!
