Heart + Culture + Community = Our purpose.
The HUSD #3 Indian Education Program is proud to share a snapshot of the meaningful work happening in our department! Take a look at what we've been up to:
β A-Mazing Highlight: National Recognition!
We are celebrating our incredible staff! Both of our dedicated Navajo Language teachers have been recognized nationally, each earning the title of a National Johnson OβMalley Educator of the Year! π This outstanding achievement highlights the commitment and excellence driving our language preservation efforts.
π Success in Community Engagement
We've been strategically focused on building stronger, more authentic connections with the communities we serve. Thanks to successful family/community events, like a reading night at Park and our highly attended Native Education Summit, we've seen a significant increase in engagement! We're excited to continue this momentum with more events planned for Novemberβcheck out the calendar of events: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GbtWeCFYaIUKfgetcf6qdejQxu4ze4tY/view?usp=sharing
β€οΈ Why We Love Our Department
Being a part of Indian Education is deeply meaningful because it gives us the opportunity to serve our Native students, families, and communities in ways that truly honor who we are and where we come from.
Every day, we help preserve our languages, celebrate our rich cultures, and empower our youth to see their identity as a source of strength and pride. Our work is about ensuring every student feels a sense of belonging and representation, knowing they are valued and capable of achieving their dreams while staying grounded in their traditions. We are connecting the past, present, and future of our people through education that truly reflects us.

As we celebrate Love Our Schools Week, we are beyond proud to share that our number one reason for loving our schools β both Park and Hulet β is because of our incredible students and staff! β€οΈ
Every day, our students and staff work tirelessly to ensure our schools are places where we are respectful, responsible, safe, and kind. They show growth and progress in their learning, and it shows in everything they do.
We are thrilled to announce that Park and Hulet have officially earned the label of a B School by the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) based on our AASA scores for the 2024-2025 school year! π This is a huge improvement from our C rating in 2023-2024, and we couldnβt be more proud!
This success didnβt come by accident β our dedicated staff focused on essential standards and worked hard to meet each studentβs individual needs, while our students showed perseverance, hard work, and determination to demonstrate growth and proficiency.
Thank you, staff and students, for being the BEST! π You are the heart of what makes our schools so special, and you are the reason we LOVE OUR SCHOOLS! π«π

At Park and Hulet Elementary, we believe in supporting every studentβs journey to success β and our Power of 5 program is one of the ways we make that happen!
πͺ What is Power of 5?
Power of 5 is an after-school tutorial program where dedicated teachers work closely with small groups of 5β7 students. This focused time allows us to provide extra support through our districtβs PASS Plan, which stands for:
β¨ Personal
π Academic
π¬ Social
π Success
ποΈ The program typically runs from October through April and is by invitation to students who would benefit from additional support in these areas.
Through Power of 5, students build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and grow socially β all while being personally supported by caring educators who believe in their potential. π
π As we celebrate Love Our School Week, weβre proud to highlight Power of 5 β one of the many amazing programs that make Park and Hulet a place where students thrive, grow, and are loved every day!
