Welcome Back, HJHS!! School starts tomorrow-Aug. 3rd @ 7:55am and releases at 3:35pm We are ready and we cannot wait to welcome our students to the 2022-2023 SY. Students will be given a copy of their class schedule upon arrival tomorrow morning. Tables will be set up in the quad by grade level and last name to pick up schedules. We will use the first couple days of school to get to know students, build positive connections, and help them get settled in and feel good about the new year. Important: If you did not register your child you will need to do so before they can report to classes. You can contact the office at 928-524-3959 if you have questions or need help. Reminder: HJHS open-house/meet the teachers is today from 2:30pm-4:00pm. We will not be handing out schedules today (Tues. Aug. 2nd) however they are visible through the Infinite Campus parent and/or student portal.

Greetings from HJHS: We are less than a week away from the 2022-2023 School Year! A few announcements as you wrap up the last days of Summer Break~~ HJHS Open House on Tuesday, August 2nd--2:30pm-4:00pm First Day of School is Wednesday, August 3rd! 7:55am-First Bell 8:00am-School Day Begins Lunch: 6th Grade-11:55am; 7th/8th Grade-12:35pm 3:35pm-School Day Ends School Supplies: Students will be provided a supply pouch with basic supplies (pencils, pens, eraser, highlighters) and an AVID binder for organization. If students prefer to get their own binder (3in or 4in) &/or additional supplies that is just fine. Athletic Packet/Physicals: Fall Sports (Football/Softball/Running Club) will begin on August 8th. Students need a completed athletic packet to participate. They can be picked up in the school office. Registration must be completed before students can start school....don't forget to register ASAP. We look forward to seeing our students soon.

HJHS Reminder and Office Information! Back to School Registration is Open. If you have not already registered your child(ren) for the 2022-2023 SY now is the time. What a ride! HUSD Governing Board Vice-President and Founder of the Tour De SiiHasin bike event; as well as many HUSD students and parents, are participating in the 2022 Tour de SiiHasin Bike Ride this week which spans 400 miles through the Navajo Nation! HJHS! NAU Future Engineers Summer Camp Students entering 7th and 8th grade that are interested in learning more about becoming an engineer...NAU Flagstaff has an opportunity for you! July 18th-22nd-- NAU Flagstaff will offer its Future Engineers Summer Camp. All meals, lodging and activities are provided. APPLICATION IS NOW OPEN! Space is limited. HJHS Reminder—Summer Volleyball Camp! Incoming 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are invited to attend the HJHS Summer Volleyball Skills Camp this week, June 20th-23rd from 8:00am-11:30am in the gym. HJHS! Summer Math~~Creative and Yummy! Our summer school math students are deepening their understanding of Probability, Ratios, Fractions, and Percent with creative graphing activities as well as connecting these math skills to real life application such as creating and using recipes for making banana bread, cookies, and smoothies. Way to Make Math Relevant, Miss LaRose!

HJHS! Social-Emotional Learning over Summer Break~~ This summer we are offering Social/Emotional Learning Groups with our Licensed Clinical Therapist, Ms. Heather, at the Holbrook Junior High School. This is open to all HJHS incoming 6th, 7th, 8th and outgoing 8th grade (going into 9th) students on Mondays-Thursdays between 8:00am-12:00pm. Students are welcome to come for the full morning or anytime during those hours. Students should plan to meet outside of the counselor's office. Students will have the ability to learn and participate in group activities teaching and discussing topics such as friendship, boundaries, emotional intelligence, self-esteem, anger management, and anxiety management and coping skills. Students will be taught to run and participate in peer groups focusing on anxiety/depression and grief & loss which will continue into the upcoming school year. Individual counseling sessions for students will also be available during this time to help support students in whatever they are needing or with situations they may be experiencing. We are excited about this opportunity and look forward to working with our students to help them continue to progress during their summer break. Congratulations to 8th grade student, Landen Brown, on being selected for the ASU 2022 INSPIRE summer program. Landen will spend a week as an ASU residential student learning about and expanding on his college-readiness skills, including developing academic and personal success behaviors through culturally-relevant, project-based learning. Way to Go, Landen! All of us at HJHS are proud of your achievement and commitment to success. We know you will learn a lot that will carry you into high school and beyond!

HJHS! Does your child need extra support with their math skills? We have the summer support needed. Miss LaRose is offering math summer school opportunities. Students can work on sharpening their math skills through hands-on exploratory opportunities. Breakfast (7:45am) and/or lunch (11:45pm) is being served on campus as well. We have a summer transportation bus that travels to and from Indian Wells Elementary School Monday-Thursday, too. Looking for additional positive summer opportunities? The Holbrook Public Library has “Oceans of Possibilities” with various activities on targeted dates from June 2nd through July 29th.

Amazing Roadrunners! The facility services & custodial crew have done a wonderful job setting up for graduation! Some of the finest Roadrunners we have! Great job everyone! Will be a wonderful celebration!

HJHS! We want to send a HUGE Shout-Out to our 8th Graders that promoted out of their elementary years and are now officially heading into high school. You experienced your entire junior high years through a pandemic...not easy! You persevered and stepped up for Success. YOU ALL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO DO GREAT THINGS. Now, be proud as you head into the next four years and take this world world by storm! We can't wait to watch you all shine!
