This evening, your students may come home and tell you that we practiced a Lockdown drill. We adopt the Standard Response Protocol at Hulet Elementary and we regularly train and practice for school emergency situations.
For new students, and some returning, this can cause anxiety. Here are a couple of ways to help them through this: 1) Practice makes perfect, 2) We always announce if it's a DRILL, and 3) offer reassurance that being behind a locked door is a proven deterrent in school situations.
Thanks for supporting us as we keep our students safe.

At Hulet, we believe that all students can learn how to be respectful, responsible, safe and kind. We also believe that all students should be acknowledged and rewarded when they are caught being responsible, respectful, safe and kind.
Last week our students went around the school to learn what it means to be respectful, responsible, safe, and kind in the different locations of the school, then on Friday, they were acknowledged for a first positive week of school with a fun Friday.
We are excited for the first day of school! As a reminder, you will pick up and drop off in the front of the school, please see the map image on our Facebook, website, or App.
Please enter the school from North 6th street. Stay in your vehicle and pull all the way up. There will be an adult at 7:40 am to let your child out of the car.
At dismissal, in the interest of safety, you may line up outside of the school, stay in your car, and hold the name sign you received. The staff will call the student to the car and open the door. Students will only be released to vehicles in the pickup line, not walk up parents. Please turn right out of the school towards the high school to assist the flow of traffic.
Please do not double park along the vehicles on West Buffalo Street. If you wish to meet your student, without waiting in the car line, please call the office to designate your child a walker and plan to meet them on the South Side of Buffalo Street after they've walked across the crosswalk.
As we learn the cars and the students, please be patient as we may take more time then normal. Our typical dismissal lasts 15 minutes from start to finish.

your store receipt. The app identifies eligible products and automatically adds Box Tops to your designated school's earnings online. Even if you’re shopping online or doing grocery pickup, you can still submit your digital or email receipt and earn Box Tops. Twice a year, our school gets a check!
Your earnings may seem small, but they really do add up!

Preliminary AASA data is in! This year, Hulet implemented a math reteach/enrich cycle, which was designed to allow students ample opportunity to grasp or expand a concept taught in math.
Our AASA math results showed a FANTASTIC return on this 30 minute investment. Schoolwide, we had less that 28% of our students in the minimally proficient range on the assessment (which includes all students, including those not at Hulet a full academic year)! Some classes had ZERO students minimally proficient in math and some grade levels had over 50% of their students proficient OR highly proficient on the assessment!
Great work Roadrunners! Special thanks to our teachers who are helping our unique students excel together!
Amazing Roadrunners!
The facility services & custodial crew have done a wonderful job setting up for graduation!

Great job everyone! Will be a wonderful celebration!

We are very appreciative of our cafeteria workers who prepare hundreds of healthy, tasty meals every day with a smiles on their faces.
Since the 2017-2018 school year, Hulet Elementary has been implementing Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Recently we had an evaluator from the Arizona Department of Education perform a Schoolwide Evaluation Tool on our implementation. This evaluation found that Hulet Elementary School is implementing our schoolwide PBIS system at 95% fidelity.
Great work students and staff! This would not be possible without you!
The appreciation festivities continue at Hulet today! Teachers received room service from Mr. Fosburgh, Mr. Hollins and Mrs. Tow!
